Mundstück is a work in the intersection in between composition and improvisation for mouthpiece and live electronics controlled by the same performer. The compositional process consists in a basic structure where only parameters like material, techniques, density, dynamic and speed are more or less indicated, whether the more specific gestures and sounds must be discovered by the performer who improvises both the instrumental and the electronic part.
The flexibility of the work, which defines only a formal line for the general structure, creates a space of exploration for the performer, a playground where the instrumental abilities and the musical intuition play a definitive role in the piece. This composed improvisational situation allows the research of richer textural and acoustic possibilities of the mouthpiece, understood here as an amplifier of the sounds produced by the mouth and processed through the use of live electronics.

teetering on the edge of rhythmic but standing firmly in the ground of odd tonality, this release leaves enough sonic space to infer one's own ideas about the form. Percussive type sounds bonk through the mix but all of them have a softness and power to them. bkudler
